アメリカから来たケリーの岩泉通信で～す！☆

「何で岩泉町に来ましたか。」
この質問をよく聞きます。だから、今日の日記にそれを少し説明したいと思います。

私のプログラムをする留学生は毎年インタンシップのようなことを参加します。インタンシップの目標は東京の意外所で体験するためのです。色々なインタンシップの場所を選べます。例えば島根県で教育交流をしに行くとか岡山県にあるお寺で接心をするとか大阪で英語を教えることもあります。

今年は岩泉にあるインタンシップの初年度です。だから、私がやりたいインタンシップを選んでいるときに岩泉にあるインタンシップについて詳細な情報をよく分からなかったです。でも、何となく「この新しいインタンシップをやってみたい」と思っていました。本当に新しくて違う所に行ってみたかったです。他に私は田舎に住んでいる人の生活やその人の感想をもっと知りたかったです。

岩泉を選んで来て、本当に嬉しいです。この町に着いた時からみんなは本当に優しいです。例えば商店街で歩いているときに他の歩いている人はいつも私に元気な声で「こんにちは！」と言います。東京都比べるに岩泉の雰囲気が全然違います。日本語を使っていて岩泉の人としゃべるのは楽しくて、面白いですよ。この町に住んでいる人は岩泉のことが大好きです。本当に感動しました。

Here is Kelly`s Diary in Iwaizumi! ☆

“Why did you come to Iwaizumi?”
I hear this question often. Therefore, in today`s diary, I would like to explain a little.

For my study abroad program every year, each student does a kind of internship. The purpose of the internship is for study abroad students to experience a place other than Tokyo. Students can choose from many different internships. For example, students can go to do educational exchange in Shimane, to do silent meditation in a temple in Okayama, and to teach English in Osaka.

This year is the first year of the internship in Iwaizumi. Therefore, when I was choosing the internship I wanted to do, there were not many details about the Iwaizumi internship. However, for some reason, I thought, “I want to try this internship.” I wanted to try to go to a new, different place. In addition, I wanted to learn more about the lifestyles of people who live in the countryside and their thoughts about their town.

I am very glad I chose to come to Iwaizumi. Since coming here, everyone I have met has been very kind. For example, when I walk down the street, other people always say “Hello!” to me in a cheerful voice. The atmosphere is very different than Tokyo. Using Japanese to chat with people in Iwaizumi is very fun and interesting. People who live here really love Iwaizumi. I was very moved by this.
